States' Rights
States rights were rights giving to the states by the national government. These rights gave the states for options and freedoms. These were a cause of the Civil War because the south wasn't getting their rights. The south started to hate the National Government in the north, mostly Abraham Lincoln the president. They even made a compromise called the Missouri compromise. This compromised stated that any state above 36 30 on the map would become free and any below it would become slave state, but it later got nullified by the Kansas Nebraska Act. This showed they could have the right

Abraham LincolnAbraham Lincoln Was an Important person in states’ rights because he was the president that wasn’t giving them there rights and they hated him. Abraham Lincoln wanted the national government to have all the power not the states having power. He also had slavery he was the president hat abolished it with the Emapation Proclamation which stated that all slaves would be free.
John BrownJohn brown was another person involved with states rights.When all the people gathered in Kansas. John Brown went and stared a huge riot called Bleeding Kansas. John Brown showed what would happen when popular sovereignty was in play.
